The Hotel National’s violinist, Rigó Jancsi wanted to impress his beloved one with a dessert which was especially created for this lady by the hotel’s confectioner. The creation was a success; it has not only fascinated the chosen lady, but also the Hotel Nemzeti’s guests and the whole country. It still enjoys unbroken success. There is hardly any cake-shop in our country where you cannot buy this cake. And there is probably no Hungarian with a sweet tooth who would resist a slice of Rigó Jancsi cake every now and then. This chocolate miracle was reinvented in the newly opened hotel, just enough to give the traditional dessert a little contemporary overtone.
